In order to promote the development of Computational Materials Science and cultivate excellent talents in this field, the annual "International Symposium on Multi-scale Modeling and Simulation of Materials" has been successfully held eight times by the Computational Materials Science Branch of the Chinese Materials Research Society: Fudan University (2008, 2013), Tsinghua University (2009), Institute of Metal Research, CAS (2010), Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, CAS (2011), University of Science and Technology Beijing (2012), Institute of Solid State Physics, CAS (2014), Beihang University (2015). The 2016 International Symposium on Multi-scale Modeling and Simulation of Materials will be held in Dalian on July 11-14, 2016. The symposium is organized by Dalian University of Technology. The topics will cover different aspects of modeling and simulation of materials, with special emphasis on new energy materials. The training courses of different computational methods will be carried out.
